It's been a little while since I've written, got caught up getting ready for Vacation Bible School. Let me go back,
4th & 5th grade swim party was a Huge success -- 8 boys and girls had such a good time together. We ate lunch then they played in the pool and on the trampoline. We had games planned, but they were having so much fun playing so well that we just let them play. It was a blessing to see them include everyone and have fun together.
Parents of children group is going too. We've had a couple families join us as they can.

Vacation Bible School started last night with over 50 children and over 50 youth and adult helpers. The first night was AWESOME and VERY VERY HOT... we have to make adjustements to cool off a space that has over 100 people -- that's today's job. Will write more about VBS later...

Tomorrow, Sunday June 14th, the kids who just finished 4th & 5th grades are gathering for lunch and swim party from 12-3. Its a time for food, fun and fellowship as we celebrate School's OUT! It's at Emma Graumlich's home. Join us!

Summer is here

Summer -- that season that falls between spring and fall, a time when the kids are out of school and we try to slow down to enjoy the summer, but we end up busier!

10 minutes after school was out, my child was bored. This weekend I heard many of the children say they were bored! And summer break just started. In our house, bored is a 4 letter word -- it's not allowed. If she can't find something to do, I will and my things to do will not be fun, they're chores. She wanted ideas of things she could do and this is what we came up with to do at home:

read a book
play a game
paint a picture
draw
do a craft project
bake cookies or brownies
take a walk outside
sit on the patio
listen to music
play a computer game
nintendo
write a note to a friend or grandparents
scrapbook
build something out recycled stuff
find toys you don't play with to donate

that was the beginning of the list... we also made a list of things we could do around central Florida that wouldn't cost a lot of money:

go to different parks
walk around a lake
watch the Space Shuttle Launch this Saturday (6/13)
walk around malls -- go into stores we've never been in before
make a scavenger hunt
visit different cities
bowling (see previous blog entry for information on kids bowling FREE)
free family movies

what she realized is there are many things to do -- sometimes obvious, sometimes we have to look for them. Our goal this summer is to do as many different things as we can...

Baptism - telling the world they believe

Last Sunday we baptized 3 children. That morning we invited the Kindergarten-3rd grade class to come watch so they could see what was going on with their class mates. After the baptisms, the teachers went back and talked to the kids and 9 of them want to be baptized now. After meeting with the kids, we hope they will be able to be baptized on June 28th. It is exciting to know the children believe in Jesus as Lord and they want to be baptized and tell the world.

Food for the Hungry

Hi, the 4th & 5th grade BOYS did a great job sponsoring a food drive for families of the church and community. The church came together and they were able to feed 5 church families. The boys divided the food and it's been delivered. What a blessing!
While they did this project, the boys are looking for other projects to do.

And let's not forget the girls who are coordinating a recycling program on Sunday Mornings at the church/YMCA.

We are excited about how these kids are serving Christ by serving others. Way to go!

Summer's Coming!

It's so exciting in KidzZone - the children's ministries of LifePoint Church. So many things are coming up:
May 31st - baptism of some of the children
June 10th - Parents of Young Children 1st meeting at Sylvan Lake Park in Sanford, 9:30am.
June 14th -- Zone 45 Lunch & Pool Party
June 22-26 - VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

The Zone 45 Boys conclude their Food Drive tomorrow - that should be interesting to see how much comes in (I'll let you know).

Summer Ideas

Let me encourage all parents to check out Regal Cinema's FREE family movies this summer -- Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, 10am offers rated G and PG movie each week. Do have to arrive about 9:30 to get a seat before day care kids arrive, Check out their website www.regmovies.com and click on the Family Fest movie. Available country wide.

Also, LifePoint Christian Church Vacation Bible School is June 22-26, 6-8:30pm. Check out www.lifepointchurch.com for more information.

Give to others

I am so proud of the Zone 45 Boys and Girls classes. Both groups have been learning about serving Jesus by serving others and have chosen service projects. The girls chose to have a recycling program at church on Sundays to recycle the soda cans and water bottles. They put out the bins & posters and collect at the end of the day and take home to put in their recycling. The boys are doing a Food Drive during the month of May to collect non-perishable food and grocery store gift cards to provide food for needed families in our church and community. They have asked the church to bring in food and gift cards and the church is responding.

Last week, one of the students looked for his teacher to tell about another need. It's exciting to see how they are looking for ways to serve others.

If these guys can learn to serve others, I can only imagine how rich their lives are going to be. Good job guys and gals!
